Good Morning All!
I just got off the phone with my mom, and I'm pleased to report all is well with her. She has just returned from the second of her twice yearly senior bus trips to Reno and had a blast. Her spring trip was spoiled, what with the bus breaking down and all. The folks were stuck for quite a while on the side of the road near Shingletown - and if you've been on that road to Shingletown you probably understand why that might put a damper on things. So, this autumn trip went without a hitch - with the possible exception of the showing of a senior-inappropriate Ben Stiller film on the bus. Poor Mom, the image of some gal peeing on Ben Stiller will be with her to the end of her days. Mom and her good buddy Lois shared a room at the Silver Legacy, and had a lot of laughs with a wee bit of Bailey's to help the good times along. The group especially enjoyed the Cirque de Soleil show at The Eldorado - these seniors know how to have fun! No money was won, but Mom has a new penny slot to recommend: Mermaid's Gold - she played for around 3 hours on $20 and hit enough bonuses to keep it entertaining. Still, happy she's home safe and sound!
On a down note, the Weaverville Senior Center is going through a lot of turmoil. The recently hired manager has already been fired, and I guess he really made a mess of the accounting - among other things. He wasn't a popular guy with the seniors, so no one is gonna miss him, but the center itself is now in danger of closing because of this fella's bungling. A lot of old folks count on the center for their main meal of the day so we're all hoping that any closing will be of short duration.
Mom voted no on 8 - she rocks!
