Just Ducky!

For many folks, the Thanksgiving holiday is all about the bird. This was especially the case at the Humphries household this November. The only odd thing was that the bird this holiday was duck. Actually, a lot of ducks - 60 to be exact - made of rubber - wearing Hawaiian gear.

Meet the Luau Ducks!

Starting this December, the Golden Age Center in Weaverville, CA will be having a monthly Luau birthday celebration. All seniors having a birthday in a particular month will be honored with cake and a Hawaiian theme celebration. My mom volunteered for the task of creating table decorations - Luau Duckies! A friend of Mom's had the notion of gluing these ducks to plastic cups and decorating with leis. I suggested that Mom bring her materials down, and that we could put together something special with the help of my super crafty mother-in-law Jennifer. So, on Thanksgiving day, we put together 30 of these ducky centerpieces. I think they turned out super!

Here's Jennifer with the fruits of our labor. Phew! That's a lotta ducks!

How cute and funny! Mom says that they were very well received at their debut appearance. Is this surprising?

Quack-a-riffic!

Quack!!!!! Was the house totally noisy from all the quacking ducks or were they well behaved?
